Our History

Vertique was originally created by entrepreneur Jay Stingel, who founded the company and developed the warehouse technology that is the basis of Vertique.

The Stingel family operated the company as a family business until 2010 when it was purchased by ITW. Members of the Stingel family, including Jay’s sons John and Jeff, are still involved in the day-to-day operations and management.

In 2010 Vertique became a part of the Illinois Tool Works (ITW) family of companies. ITW, a $17 billion multi-national organization with over 850 independently operating business units, considers Warehouse Automation and Supply Chain optimization an important part of its ongoing growth strategy. ITW also acquired an exciting Automated Storage and Retrieval System technology called StorFast.  Vertique and StorFast are both part of ITW's newly named division, ITW Warehouse Automation (ITWWA). These changes bring a lot of value to our customers and enable us to offer a full complement of warehouse automation solutions. In short, we now have more to offer than ever before.

 

In the past, Vertique was primarily focused on case picking and the optimization of the Delivery and Logistics portion of your business. Today, with 22 installations under our belt and a spirit of continuous improvement, we maintain a market leadership position in case picking. Perhaps even more exciting is the fact that our systems have been implemented in warehouses whose volume is as small as 3 million cases and as large as 20 million. Our systems are scalable in order to allow for future expansion and proven so you can rest assured that your investment is sound.

   

While we've long been known for our innovative case picking solutions, StorFast AS/RS system is every bit as "cutting edge."  The cart-based pallet storage system is an ideal product for fitting into existing warehouses and can help substantially extend the life of your current facility. Further, if you are considering significant changes to your warehouse operation strategy, StorFast can give you the flexibility in your decision-making process around consolidation and expansion.  Our StorFast solution is safer, faster and more flexible in existing buildings than conventional crane based full pallet systems.
